There’s the old line about being so poor you can’t even afford to pay attention. There’s Mr. Miyagi imploring Daniel-san to “Focus”.  For those of you looking for a more recent reference, there’s the Psyche TV series where Shawn Spencer’s Dad implores him to observe all the details.
But, for me. when it comes to Christmas, I try to set all the attention grabbing busy-ness aside and let family, freinds, food and festivities wash over me. Taking me wherever the moment requires.  Then, in a twinkling, it’s over. The decorations come down. The gifts are put to use and the moments are placed in memory for future recall.

My  attention is immediately drawn to Time as the year counts down its final days and all the events of the past year well up inside me.  The media provides us with an array of images from the year about to become history and makes us realize what we missed and who we will miss.

It’s hard to know where to focus our attention as time passes but a review of my yesterdays really seems to help me realize what is important in my tomorrows.  So as I contemplate how to spend my time in the new year I will defintely be allocating more of it to paying attention.

Happy New Year everyone.
Thanks for spending a little of your valuable time with me!
