Hello, my name is B.L. Lindstrom.  I’m a writer.  I wrote a book.  Then I set out to get it published and made into a movie and/or television series.  I mean, why not? I can dream.   Shoot, let’s put it on Broadway too.

The world is full of people waiting to sell you on your own dreams.  Just give them a few thousand dollars and you’ll be talking to Oprah about your best seller or negotiating with Spielberg to make your blockbuster.  It’s just that easy!

Did you know there are 750,000 manuscripts generated every year?  Did you know less than 1% of those end up being marketed by a major publisher?  Did you know books sold by less-than-major-publishers average about 75 copies per title?

I don’t have the numbers for submissions to Spielberg, but hey he chose to make Bee Movie, so maybe we’ve got a chance with him.

BEE that as it may, I was at this New Media expo last week and it occurred to me; why don’t we start producing this stuff ourselves?  Even if it’s just for consumption on the internet?  No middle men. No real barriers to entry. Nobody telling you what you can say or put on the screen, EXCEPT your customers and your own sense of ethical standards.
Now, you can’t steal your content and you can’t liable the innocent (well I guess you can, but you shouldn’t), but most everything else is available for delivering your message.

So in this blog we will seek out those New Media Adventurers and relate to you tales of $uccess and danger as we all traverse this road to ultimate creative freedom.
