Amazon’s grand experiment in replacing paper with bytes has begun.
They are selling the Kindle ebook reader for $399, but they don’t have any right now (hmmm…Tickle me Elmo marketing?)

Anyway, they are offering published works for less but still giving the publisher their cut based on the retail price of the hardcopy.

IF, you are self published, you can, allegedly, set your own price and they will give you a 35% royalty.

I just uploaded my novel using their web based conversion process. It suggests converting your document to HTML then uploading. I did that and it looked lousy when I previewed it in Kindle format.  Then I uploaded the MS Word doc file and let them convert it on their end.
Looked great.

Stay tuned, they said it would be available in 12 hours.
